Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Need help? Take a look at some of our most Frequently Asked Questions.

What does Passport stand for?

Thanet Passport stands for The Thanet Primary Association for School Sport.

Who runs Thanet Passport?

Thanet Passport is run by schools for schools. The Passport Committee, which is made up of school-based volunteers plus the District School Games Organiser, oversees the finances and the calendar of activities. The Committee also appoints the Passport Administrator, who is responsible for the day-to-day running of the organisation.

What does Thanet Passport do?

We help organise and support all of the extra-curricular inter-school sport for all of the Primary Schools in Thanet. This includes sourcing venues, first aid cover and the provision of certificates, medals and trophies

Who are members of Thanet Passport?

Every Primary school in the Thanet District is a member of Thanet Passport. This includes Infant, Junior and all-through Primary schools.

How many different sports and events do you help organise?

At present Thanet Passport helps run over 70 sports festivals and tournaments a year, covering more than 20 different sports.

Do you have links with local sports clubs?

Thanet Passport has forged strong links with many local sports clubs, so that our youngsters can pursue their interests outside of school. These include Thanet Wanderers (rugby), Margate FC and Ramsgate FC (football), Broadstairs CC and Margate CC (cricket), Thanet Squash Club, Margate Tennis Club, Thanet Athletics Club and the Thanet Netball League.

Are you a registered charity or a business?

Thanet Passport is not a registered charity, nor is it a business. It is a non-profit making organisation that is run by schools for schools, who each pay an annual affiliation fee. The Ursuline College holds the purse strings and the finances are over-seen by the Passport Committee, which is made up of school based volunteers.

Do you have sponsors?

Thanet Passport has an established network of Partners - local businesses that mostly provide services in kind rather than actual money. These partnerships have proved to be of great mutual benefit to all concerned. Anyone interested in becoming a partner should contact the Passport Administrator for further details.
