In the tightest of contests, St Saviours Junior School carried off the title of '6 Nations Champions,' edging out Upton Juniors by dint of having scored just one try more.

Initially the 24 teams from 18 Thanet Primary Schools were placed in random groups, with the 5 group winners then playing each other for the main trophy. The other teams still had plenty to play for in their second round groups, as altogether there were 6 trophies on offer, each one named after one of the 6 Nations. The Italy Cup was awarded to the most sporting team, with Dame Janet deservedly gaining this accolade.

The England Cup saw 5 very evenly matched teams playing some high quality rugby, with St Saviour’s beating a tiring St Joseph's in their final match to decide the destination of the trophy. The Ireland Cup and the France Cup were carried off by St Nicholas-at-Wade and Palm Bay respectively. Dame Janet added the Scotland Cup to their Fair Play trophy, whilst Upton 3 took home the Wales Cup.

Gary Rees, Chairman of Thanet Passport, said, 'We are grateful to the staff at Baypoint for hosting this fantastic event. The trophies were allocated according to the finishing positions of the 6 Nations this year, so congratulations to St Saviour’s on taking home the England Cup. The quality of primary school rugby in the district is improving all the time and with England winning this year’s 6 Nations it is good to think that we are helping lay the foundations for success in the future.'

Other schools taking part were Holy Trinity Ramsgate, Minster, Christ Church, Cliftonville, Bromstone, St Peter's, St Ethelbert's, Birchington, Newington, Haddon Dene, Chilton and Garlinge.
