Thanet Passport Update - 3

Dear Colleagues

DANE COURT OFFER

Dane Court Grammar School are looking for 7 schools to offer a placement for two students every Thursday between January and April. The students would arrive by 1pm and be available to help with PE activities until 5pm. By March they would need to be in a situation where they could deliver a 45 minute session by themselves, which is part of their exam assessment. They would have to produce a lesson plan and then be filmed teaching/coaching, followed by a reflection session with a member of staff from the host school. The key aims are to give the students confidence in working with children, understanding how to plan a lesson, whilst keeping it safe and fun. It will also, of course, support the host school with the delivery of PE and Games.

Interested schools can gain more information by contacting Andrew White by e-mail - awhite@danecourt.kent.sch.uk.

YEAR 2 FOOTBALL REMINDER

Thank you to all those schools that have entered the Year 2 Football Festival at Margate FC on Tuesday 16th October. Although the closing date for entries was last Friday, I still have spaces available. If you wish to enter please let me know no later than this coming Friday 5th October. So far the following schools are confirmed:-

St Gregory's, Callis Grange, Cliftonville, Birchington, Chilton, Newlands, Newington, Ellington & St Crispin's

FOOTBALL - CLUB v SCHOOL

Some schools have asked me whether schools or clubs take precedence when it comes to matches. FA rules clearly state that schools take precedence and clubs who put players under pressure to play for them when there is a clash of fixtures are breaking FA rules and can be reported for doing so. To help with this the TPSFA has produced a template letter that can be given to players to take home and then give to their clubs. This is attached. Players who have been selected for the Thanet Schools District team should, of course, give preference to the District side.

DISTRICT RESULTS

Staying on the theme of District football, our Girls' squad continued the sterling work of last season when they took part in their first festival of the year at Thamesmead, where they won 3 and drew 1 of the 4 matches they played. This augers well for the rest of the season.
