Thanet Passport Update - 19

Dear Colleagues

Welcome to the final Update of the year! Our 8th Year has been a really successful one and, as well as winning a Thanet Community Award, for the first time we reached participation figures of 10,000+!

I would like to thank everyone for their fantastic support. Enjoy your well earned summer break and we will see you all for another year of inter-school sport in September!

PASSPORT CALENDAR 2019/20

Attached is the draft version of the Passport Calendar for 2019/20. We are still waiting for one or two dates to be confirmed, but it is unlikely to change much.

You may notice that the Swimming Gala has been omitted. This is because Thanet Swim Club could not confirm a date due to possible county and national galas, but hopefully they will be able to hold their local Gala on Saturday 16th May, which has been left free. Obviously as soon as I have a confirmed date I will let you know.

Laminated A3 size hard copies will be delivered to every school in September. For your convenience I have also produced some Guidance, which is designed to help you understand how the calendar works and how to get the most from it. I hope you find it useful.

ANNUAL REPORT TO SCHOOLS

Also attached is my Annual Report to schools. A copy of this will be sent to every Headteacher, where we have their e-mail address. However, it would be good if PE staff could print off a copy and place it in front of the Headteacher, just so that they know about all your hard work this year!

NEW TROPHIES!

The Passport Committee have thought long and hard how best to spend the £1000 Community Award money for the benefit of all member schools and consequently have decided to provide every school with a special trophy. We will be asking that the returnable trophy be awarded to children who demonstrate all the qualities laid out in the Passport Charter. How and when schools do this will be up to them, but the hope is that it will encourage increased participation and sportsmanship. These trophies will be delivered to all schools along with the calendars in September and the Passport Charter is attached. This can also be found on our website, www.thanetpassport.org.uk .

Best Wishes
