Y3/4 Thanet Passport Rugby League competition - Tuesday 26th April 2022

The amazing 2022 year 3 and 4 touch rugby league tournament that took place at Minster C of E Primary was a thrilling experience with many ups and downs. Five teams of eager boys and girls battled to be crowned champions. School teams represented at the tournament were: Minster, Garlinge, Haddon Dene, Holy Trinity Ramsgate and Chilton. A massive thank you to the parents, supporters and teachers associated with each of these fantastic teams. Thank you also to Thanet Passport for organising the event.

Report – from a Minster player’s point of view:

After about 10 minutes of intense training, the first match began. The Minster team of 3 girls and 3 boys played Garlinge first. With great success we managed to score three tries whilst keeping our defence strong. Winning the first match gave us all the confidence we needed to get a good score against Chilton in our second match. After a brief rest, we headed to the other pitch to play our next opponents, Holy Trinity. This was probably our most challenging match yet as they were going into our half a lot more. They managed to score 2 tries but so did we, which meant that we drew with each other. Even then we were still determined to keep going and to make the next match count. We were now going to play Haddon Dene which was a close match that we managed to go on and win.

We then had a seven minute break and watched other teams play. Then we heard the final whistle and we headed off to where the other teams sat. Next, they called out the winners, Holy Trinity and MINSTER! However, we drew and now it all depended on the amount of tries we had scored in total. After a tense moment of anticipation, we found out that Holy Trinity had scored 8 tries but we had scored 11! Which meant we had won! With gold medals around our necks, we thanked everyone and walked to the gate with pride knowing that we had played our part.
