Thanet Passport Update - 7

Dear Colleagues

Happy New Year!

And welcome to yet another lockdown! As always Thanet Passport will continue to support you as best we can at this difficult time.

ONGOING VIRTUAL EVENTS

Please note that all of the virtual events that were due to be concluded in Term 3 will now be carried over into Term 4. These include:-

  • Speed Stacking
  • Dance
  • Tri-Golf

If you already have some results for the above events then please hold onto them and we will let you know new dates for final submissions once things become clearer.

TSC VIRTUAL FOOTBALL COMPETITION - Years R - 6

As previously notified, here are the details for the Virtual Football Competition that TSC has organised in partnership with Thanet Passport. Although we realise that children will not be back in school until Term 4 at the earliest we thought we would send out the details now so that you can register and then plan in advance for when they return. The end date for submitting results is April 1st, but this may well be extended.

This virtual competition can be run by staff in the schools at their own pace as long as they have completed the events and submitted their results by April 1st 2021.

The competition will work as follows:

  • There will be 4 events for each pupil to take part in. Each event is very simple to run and easy to set up. This is an inclusive tournament that caters for all ability levels. By taking part the child will automatically score points for their class, as long as they complete all 4 events. Events are adjusted slightly for key stages.
  • Children take part in the 4 different events, based on passing, shooting, dribbling and running with the ball. The scoring system is worked out so that each event is given the same weighting and will allow it to be more competitive. Each school year group will be given a score, made up of an average of the score of each class in that year group. This way, schools that have multiple classes can compete against smaller schools.
  • School year groups will be competing against each other. There is therefore a separate competition and trophy for each year group (Year R up to Year 6). We will also send each school that takes part a pdf certificate that you can hand out to anyone who participates should you want to. The year group with the highest average score will win a trophy.
  • To help with the running of the competition we have provided a brochure which details everything about how to run the competition, as well as graphics on how to set up and run each event. A video is also provided on how to run each event, this can be shown to the children as an instruction video if needed.
  • Each school will receive an excel sheet that you will need to input the scores into, this will automatically calculate the scores and averages for the class and year group. It is extremely simple to use.
  • As a bonus we have added in videos and written guides on how to teach the techniques of passing, dribbling, running with the ball and shooting. These break down the components of how to perform each skill. As well as this we have also provided some video and paper lesson plans to give you some ideas on how to teach these techniques should you wish. This is not mandatory but if you want to turn the competition into a few weeks’ worth of lessons in the build up to completing the scored events, this should give the children some extra tips on how to perform the skills.

If you have any questions regarding the competition please email schools@tscoaching.co.uk

The attached pdf gives more detail about the competition, there is also a clickable link in the pdf to register your interest. Alternatively you can register using this link: https://www.cognitoforms.com

After we have received the expressions of interest we will be sending out the brochures and videos before the end of the month so you can start when suits you.

HOME MULTI-FIT COMPETITION

Stephanie is currently working on a Passport Multi-Fit competition that you can send to parents to be completed at home, with the results sent directly to us rather than to you. We will then arrange distribution of medals and certificates to all participants.

ONLINE SUPPORT

AfPE is also there to support schools, parents and pupils. Now would be a good time to sign up for membership using your PE and Sports Premium, as it is not expensive, represents extremely good value for money and gives you access to loads of resources.

For some great free resources you can signpost your parents to the #ThisisPE two-minute activity videos on YouTube that are free, fun and easy to use:-

Stay Safe everyone and remember that Stephanie and I are always available if you need support.
