Dear Colleagues
Welcome back! I trust you all had a restful Easter break and set a healthy example by not consuming too many Easter eggs!
As promised, please find attached the Passport Calendar for Term 6, including venues. We have tried to include something for all age groups, genders and levels of ability and, apart from the Boccia, they are all outdoor events (weather permitting!). It also assumes that the Government 'road map' will not change and that all the venues will be open, albeit with some restrictions in place. Please note that the 5 events before 21st June, when all restrictions are due to be lifted, are in school time and parents will be unable to watch.
We are planning to send out a full Passport Calendar for 2021/22 as usual in July.
Accompanying the Passport Calendar is a brief Questionnaire, which we would like you to complete and return as soon as possible. The Questionnaire is extremely important, as it will let us know how many schools are likely to take part and what extra precautions may be required.Obviously if every school were to say that they were not prepared to take part in any of our planned events then there will be no need to proceed any further. Hopefully this will not be the case!
Please return the Questionnaire to me, garybcrees@gmail.com . It should take no longer than 5-10 minutes depending upon your school circumstances.
Well done to all those schools that entered our virtual competitions last term and CONGRATULATIONS to the winners.
Speed Stacking - Children from the following schools all received Gold, Silver or Bronze medals which I have already delivered - St Mildred's, Minster, St George's and Garlinge.
Dance - Overall winner - Garlinge. Stephanie will be delivering your medals soon.
Tr-Golf - Stephanie will be letting each school that entered know which are their winning teams and she will deliver your medals in the near future.
Steve Franks, the Kent Squash Development Coach, is delighted that 3 Passport schools have already signed up to help develop a Thanet Squash Academy. He has asked me to send out a reminder that it is still not too late to sign up. Coaching and taster sessions are available for interested schools and all equipment is provided. I have re-attached his letter and further details about this exciting opportunity can be obtained from Steve, elsteveo969@hotmail.co.uk.
The Children's Commissioner for England is carrying out the biggest ever survey of children aged 4-17. The Big Ask is an opportunity for young people to tell the Government what life is like for them and what they want for the future. The survey is divided into 4 different age groups and there are resources available for teachers and parents to help children complete it. Find out more by visiting www.childrenscommissioner.gov.uk/thebigask/
Also attached is a flyer giving details about The Daily Mile, which is designed to get over 1 million primary children moving any time between 9am and 3pm on Friday 30th April. Every school that signs up will get a free downloadable pack for use on the day, so why not register and take part?
This is a Sport and Physical Activity Club for children of all ages, taking place 9-10am on Saturday mornings during term time. One has now been set up at St Anthony's School in Margate and there is a 50% discount for families that receive free school meals. See the attached flyer for details of how interested families can apply.
Best Wishes
