Welcome back. I trust you enjoyed the long hot summer and are suitably refreshed for another full calendar of Passport activities, including some new events - such as Orienteering!
CALENDARS
Talking of calendars, the laminated A3 versions will be delivered to all schools in the next week or so. The electronic version is also attached.
FOOTBALL - Years 3-6
The first events on the calendar are our Football Festivals. Attached is the sign up sheet for this, as well as the John Curran Cup, the Les Riggs Cup and Super Saturday. Please complete it electronically and e-mail it back to me by this coming Friday 7th September.
DISTRICT TEAMS
Staying on the theme of football, thank you to all those schools that nominated players for our District Teams last season. Following the trials the players on the attached lists have been selected, which does mean that they may well be unavailable for Saturday games, so please do not pressurise them to play for the school if a District game is taking place.
MARGATE MASCOT EXPERIENCE
The following schools have all signed up for the Margate Mascot Experience for matches at Margate FC this coming season:-
Garlinge, Priory, Palm Bay, Northdown, St Saviour's, Holy Trinity & St John's & Monkton
Further details regarding your allocated games will be sent out soon. However, we still have a couple of unallocated fixtures available. If anyone is interested or wishes further details then please let me know as soon as possible.
NETBALL FESTIVAL - Years 5/6
Attached is the entry form for the first Netball festival of the year at Dane Court on Monday 24th September, 3.45-5.15pm. Please note that there is a limit of 10 places for this event which will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Entries open at 7.30am on Thursday 6th September and should be sent to Sue Mileham, milehams@garlinge.kent.sch.uk , NOT ME!
CROSS COUNTRY - Years 3-6
Attached is all the information you need for the first Cross Country event of the year, taking place at Quex Park on Saturday 6th October from 10am. PLEASE READ IT ALL CAREFULLY, even if you have been doing this for several years. The closing date for entries to thanetprimaryxc@gmail.com is 5pm on Monday 17th September, with entry fees to be paid by Friday 21st September.
UPTON SWIMMING POOL
The Swimming Pool at Upton is now being run separately to the school. If any schools are looking for a permanent booking please contact Stacy Simpson on 07796881887, or via e-mail, admin@uptonswimmingpool.co.uk . They have the following times available:-
PASSPORT ON THE RADIO
This Wednesday 5th September yours truly will be a guest on Academy FM's sports programme from 6-8pm, talking about Thanet Passport. If you have nothing better to do (like washing your hair or clipping your nails!) then why not tune in to 107.8 FM.
