Thanet Passport Update - 17

Dear Colleagues

YEAR 2 FOOTBALL FESTIVAL

Due to that annoying wet stuff constantly falling from the sky, we had to cancel the Y2 Football Festival at Margate FC last week. However, I am pleased to say that I have managed to rearrange it for next Tuesday 18th June. Therefore, if you were not able to take part on the original date you are more than welcome to put in a team this time. Please let me know if you would like to take part NO LATER than lunchtime on Friday 14th June. Original entrants also need to confirm if they will be attending.

YEAR 3-6 ROUNDERS FESTIVAL

This fun event is due to take place at Upton on Wednesday 3rd July, 4-5.30pm. It is a friendly festival and every school will play 3 matches with medals for all at the end. There is a maximum of 11 players and a minimum of 7 per team. As we play with tennis balls the age range can be any combination of boys and girls from Year 3 to Year 6. Please read the attached rules carefully, as schools often have their own slight variations. The rules are those according to the NRA, with the only exception being that games are timed and if a player is out they can carry on batting with a one rounder penalty for each dismissal. This is designed to increase participation and ensure that all games finish at the same time.

There is no restriction on the number of teams. Please let me know if you wish to enter no later than Monday 17th June.

YEAR 2 RAPID FIRE CRICKET

As previously notified, this event, which is a KSG Qualifier, will take place at Westgate CC on Monday 24th June, starting at 12.30pm. Teams of 8 can be both boys and girls and entries should go to Ian McLean, ian.mclean.kent@ecb.co.uk . The closing date for entries is Monday 17th June at 3pm, after which time Ian will send out more information.

YEAR 5/6 PASSPORT ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS

This is a brand new event for this year, which will take place at The Royal Harbour School on Wednesday 10th July, 4-6pm. Further details and an entry form are attached. There is a limit of 16 schools for this event and entries should be sent to Stephanie Selsby, sgo@ursuline.kent.sch.uk NO EARLIER THAN 7.30am on Thursday 13th June, whereupon places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Closing date for entries is midnight on Monday 17th June.

YEARS 5/6 SUPER 8s KWIK CRICKET

To finish the Passport year we always have 2 Kwik Cricket Festivals arranged, at Margate CC on Friday 5th July and at Broadstairs CC on Friday 12th July, both 4-5.20pm. This is an opportunity for schools to play a couple of friendly matches. There are no medals or trophies - it is just turn up, play and have fun. Kwik cricket rules apply EXCEPT that players must all face 6 balls when batting and underarm bowling is permitted throughout (see attached rules).

Schools may enter one or both events. Please let me know which venue(s) you wish to attend no later than Monday 17th June.

SWIMSAFE

A reminder from Gail Crompton that Swimsafe starts this week which is FREE to all schools. Further information and booking can be found at https://swimsafe.org.uk/book-your-session .
