Thanet Passport Update - 1

Dear Colleagues

Welcome back. I trust you enjoyed the long hot summer and are suitably refreshed for another full calendar of Passport activities.

CALENDARS

Talking of calendars, the laminated A3 versions will be delivered to all schools in the next week or so. The electronic version is also attached.

FOOTBALL - Years 3-6

The first events on the calendar are our Football Festivals. Attached is the sign up sheet for these, as well as the John Curran Cup, the Les Riggs Cup and Super Saturday. Please complete it electronically and e-mail it back to me by this coming Friday 6th September.

DISTRICT TEAMS

Staying on the theme of football, thank you to all those schools that nominated players for our various District Teams last season. Following the trials this means that some of your better players may well be unavailable for Saturday games, so please do not pressurise them to play for the school if a District game is taking place. On a positive note, this should mean that more players will be given an opportunity to represent their schools - which is surely what it is all about!

RAMSGATE MASCOT EXPERIENCE

We are delighted to welcome Ramsgate FC as one of our sponsors and partners this year. Similarly to Margate FC, they are offering schools the opportunity to bring up to 12 pupils to a league fixture at Southwood Stadium this coming season to act as mascots. Please fill in the attached booking form and return it to me by e-mail as soon as possible if you wish to take advantage of this offer. This offer is open to all schools, even those that have signed up for the Margate FC Mascot Experience.

MARGATE MASCOT EXPERIENCE

The following schools have all signed up for the Margate Mascot Experience for matches at Margate FC this coming season:-

  • Garlinge
  • Upton
  • Minster
  • Cliftonville
  • St Laurence
  • Holy Trinity & St John's
  • St Nicholas-at-Wade

Further details regarding your allocated games will be sent out soon. However, we still have a couple of unallocated fixtures available. If anyone is interested or wishes further details then please let me know as soon as possible.

NETBALL FESTIVAL - Years 5/6

Attached is the entry form for the first Netball festival of the year at Dane Court on Wednesday 25th September, 3.45-5.15pm. Please note that there is a limit of 10 places for this event which will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Entries open at 7.30am on Thursday 5th September and should be sent to Jack Hearn at Garlinge Primary School, hearnj@garlinge.kent.sch.uk , NOT ME!

CROSS COUNTRY - Years 3-6

Attached is all the information you need for the first Cross Country event of the year, taking place at Quex Park on Saturday 5th October from 10am. PLEASE READ IT ALL CAREFULLY! The administration arrangements will be the same as the second event of last season, so there will be no need for pinned on numbers or a spreadsheet. Also, in order to reduce the use of single use plastic bottles, water will not now be handed out at the end of the each race. Runners should be encouraged to bring their own reusable bottles and schools are asked to bring water with them, although emergency supplies will be available.

Guidance, an entry form and a pro forma letter for parents are attached. Entry forms should be sent to me, gary.rees@tinyonline.co.uk , no later than Wednesday 25th September and cheques for the total amount need to arrive no later than Monday 30th September. Alternatively money can be paid in via PayPal using the email address - thanetathleticsclub@gmail.com. If this method is used then an e-mail should be sent to me by Monday 30th September confirming that this has been done and the amount paid in.

Please note that schools that fail to meet these deadlines will not be able to take part.

THANET WANDERERS OPEN DAY

Finally, attached is a flyer about the Community Open Day at Thanet Wanderers, St Peter's Rec on Sunday 15th September. Please advertise this to interested children - or pop along yourself!

Best Wishes
