Stephanie Selsby and I have begun delivering the laminated calendars to all schools this week (2 per school).
In addition, as mentioned last term, every school will receive a handsome glass 'Passport Charter Award' trophy. Inside the box is a covering letter indicating how we would like the award to be be used to encourage more children to engage in sport in a positive and enjoyable way, along with a copy of the Passport Charter. I have also attached a copy of the Passport Charter to this email and further copies can be downloaded from our website under the Documents tab at www.thanetpassport.org.uk .
Please remember that entry forms for the Cross Country at Quex Park on 5th October need to be sent to me no later than midday on Wednesday 25th September, followed by payment no later than Monday 30th September.
The first Football Festival of the season for Year 2 will take place at Margate FC on Tuesday 15th October, 3.45-5.30pm. A flyer with further details is attached. There is no limit on the number of schools that can take part and entries should be sent to ME, gary.rees@tinyonline.co.uk , no later than Friday 27th September.
Once again we will be holding a series of networking meetings across the year for PE Coordinators and sports coaches. The first meeting has provisionally been scheduled for the afternoon of Tuesday 5th November and I would appreciate any offers from schools to host. All we need is a large room, preferably with AV facilities and the offer of tea/coffee and possibly even biscuits!

Because Schools are already recognised as a corporate partner, any teacher wishing to take advantage of a discounted membership only needs to take their School Identification Badge (or payslip) along to one of the Your Leisure Centre reception desks and ask to join the School Corporate Membership Scheme.
Following last year's successful initiative, Dane Court Grammar School are looking for 7 schools to offer a placement for two students every Thursday between January and April. The students would arrive by 1pm and be available to help with PE activities until 5pm. By March they would need to be in a situation where they could deliver a 45 minute session by themselves, which is part of their exam assessment. They would have to produce a lesson plan and then be filmed teaching/coaching, followed by a reflection session with a member of staff from the host school. The key aims are to give the students confidence in working with children, understanding how to plan a lesson, whilst keeping it safe and fun. It will also, of course, support the host school with the delivery of PE and Games.
