Thanet Passport Update - 11

Dear Colleagues

INDOOR BOWLS OPPORTUNITIES

Our first Indoor Bowls Tournament for Year 6 children was a great success last week and as a result several of those who took part have signed up for the 'Bowls4Free' coaching sessions. Thanet Indoor Bowls Club are looking to run these sessions after school and would ideally like a few more children to join up. Attached is a flyer with further details, along with an application form. Even if your school did not take part, please promote this opportunity with any parents and children that you think might be interested.

In addition, the Bowls Club are looking at starting up a regular 'After School Bowls Club' on Wednesdays for schools, starting in the summer or autumn, depending on levels of interest. There would be a nominal charge of £2 per child. If your school might be interested in joining in then please email tibcmargate@unicombox.co.uk or phone 01843 227083 for further details.

GOLF CLASSES

Similarly, with our approaching Golf Skills Festival at North Foreland Golf Club, attached is a flyer detailing their Primary Schools Coaching Offer, whereby up to 15 pupils at a time can take part in a coaching session with a PGA professional. Term time only. Please contact North Foreland Golf Club directly if you are interested in taking up this offer.

If you have still not booked your place at the Golf Skills Festival on Wednesday 27th March, starting at 1pm, Stephanie tells me there are still places available. The entry form can still be found on our website, www.thanetpassport.org.uk .

EASTER CRICKET CAMP

As if that was not enough, also attached is a flyer and booking form for the Easter Cricket Camp at St Lawrence College, 1st-5th April 2024, 10am-3pm, for children of all abilities from 6-16. Please pass the details on to those you think might be interested as soon as possible, as I'm told that places are going fast.

SPORTS CONNECT

At our last PE Networking meeting we were treated to a presentation from our old friend Lisa Sparkes, who is now doing sterling work with 'Sports Connect,' an organisation that uses the power of sport to provide greater opportunities and support for young people and adults. Attached is her powerpoint from that meeting with further details about the work they do in the community to promote physical and mental health. Also a plea from Lisa that if you have any sports equipment that you no longer need, but which is still safe to use, then please let her know before disposing of it. Lisa's contact details can be found at the end of the presentation.

AND FINALLY...

A reminder that the Y3/4 'Super Saturday' football festival has been put back from 23rd March until 20th April 2024, due to Upton hosting the National Biathlon trials. Further details and an entry form will be included in my next Update in a fortnight's time.

I still have one place available for the '6 Nations Rugby Tournament' on Saturday 16th March if anyone wants it!

Best wishes
