Apologies for sending you this Update during the Easter break, but I am away on holiday next week and there are quite a few events coming up that you may be interested in signing up for sooner rather than later!
Attached is the entry form for the Y4/5 Football Festival, on Wednesday 1st May, 4-5.30pm at The Baypoint Club near Pegwell. This is an opportunity for you to see what 'talent' you have for next season and we will also ask you to nominate the most sporting school you have played against this season. The school with the most votes will receive the Palmer Fair Play Shield.
Entries should be sent to me, garybcrees@gmail.com. One entry per school. Closing date for entries is Wednesday 24th April 2024. Spectators are allowed at this event.
Also attached is a flyer inviting you to enter our second Y1/2 Football Festival of the year at Margate FC on Thursday 2nd May 2024, 3.45-5.30pm. This is a fun event for both boys and girls and everyone gets a medal! There is no limit on numbers (max 9 in a squad). Entries should be sent to me, garybcrees@gmail.com , no later than midnight on Wednesday 24th April 2024. Spectators are welcome at this event.
Finally, in preparation for the various Kwik Cricket competitions, we are offering schools the opportunity to take part in a Taster Session at Westgate Cricket Club on Friday 3rd May, 4-5.30pm. This is an ideal opportunity for players from Years 3 to 6 to learn the rules of the game and improve their skills and for staff to take away some ideas for coaching. There is a limit of 8 schools for this event and places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis. Further details and an entry form are attached, which should be sent to me, garybcrees@gmail.com , no earlier than 7.30am on Thursday 18th April 2024. Entries close at midnight on Thursday 25th April 2024. Spectators are permitted at this event.
Our second Dodgeball Tournament of the year will take place at Ramsgate Leisure Centre on Thursday 9th May 2024, 4pm - 5.20pm. Schools can bring a squad of up to 10 children but only 8 children are permitted to play in each game. All teams must have at least 1 boy and 1 girl but a good mix is always promoted. Rules are adapted to suit Year 2 children and are attached. The emphasis is on the children having fun. Event guidelines will be sent out with fixtures to schools after the closing date.
Due to space, we are limited to 8 teams and entries will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis (one team per school). Spectators are not permitted at this event.

Attached is the entry form for all 3 Kwik Cricket competitions on 10th May and 7th June respectively. All 3 events are qualifiers for the County Finals, so please do not enter unless you know that you are able to meet the entry requirements regarding number of players. There is a limit of 8 teams for the Y3/4 tournament and 16 teams for both the Y5/6 events and places will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis. Entries should be sent to me, garybcrees@gmail.com , no earlier than next Friday 19th April 2024 at 7.30am. Entries close at midnight on Friday 26th April 2024. A copy of the rules is also attached. Spectators are welcome at all 3 events.
The Y5/6 Orienteering Competition at Betteshanger Park on Wednesday 8th May has now been cancelled, due to the fact that this will now be an integral part of the Cycling and Archery event at the same venue on 10th July 2024 during Thanet Games Week. However, sign up details for the Y3/4 Orienteering event at The Ursuline on Tuesday 21st May will be in my next Update.
As previously notified, Thanet Swim Club are holding their Primary Schools Swimming Gala at Hartsdown Swimming Pool on Saturday 11th May 2024.The Year 3/4 session starts at 1.00pm, followed by the Y5/6 session at 4pm and the Entry Pack with further details can be found attached to Update 10 or on the Passport website, www.thanetpassport.org.uk . A reminder that the closing date for entries is Tuesday 23rd April 2024 and entry forms and fees should be sent to Lynn Gates (NOT ME!), lynngates@live.co.uk . Many thanks to eagle-eyed Callum Noble for pointing out that Upton were the winners of the Y5/6 Handball Tournament, not Garlinge, as reported in my last Update. Many apologies for any upset caused!
