The school is led by Mrs Jane Troth and, on December 1st 2013, became an Academy working with Dane Court Grammar School, King Ethelbert School and Hartsdown Academy.
These schools are formally joined to make a group known as the Coastal Academies Trust.
Dame Janet School was built in 1933 on land provided by the school's benefactress Dame Janet Stancomb-Wills.
In 1968, due to over-crowding, a new building was constructed next door to the original building. The 'infant age' children went to the new building and the 'junior age' children remained in the original building and eventually became two separate schools.
In 2012, it was decided that the two schools would merge into one all-through primary school and convert to academy status. It was decided that the new academy would become part of The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT).
The children, parents, staff, governors and our community are very proud of our successful and hardworking school which has served our local community for many years. The ethos of our school reflects the values and attitudes that characterise any caring family and community. The atmosphere of the school, the quality of relationships and the way in which the school helps to deal with difficulties all combine to develop children who will have a fair sense of justice and the ability to be valued citizens of the future.
