Dear Colleagues
The Passport Committee met virtually this week, following which there are a few things to tell you, hence this additional Update.
I am pleased to say that nearly all of the venues we have approached for our draft calendar of events (which I sent out last week) have agreed in principle to host. Therefore I would recommend that you start building any clubs or PE lessons around those sports you may wish to enter. I have attached another copy of the draft calendar for your convenience.
The Committee members are very aware that schools will be a little nervous about taking part in events with other schools and that every school will have different Covid19 policies in place. Therefore I will be sending out a more concrete calendar directly after Easter along with a brief survey, so that we can get an idea of what reasonable precautions will be required to ensure the maximum take-up from schools. By that time we should also have a good idea of how things are progressing in general.
In my next Update, before the end of this term, I will be sending out details for the Virtual Multi-Sport Team Competition which will be running after Easter until 14th May, which will centre around skills related to Handball, Hockey and Basketball.
As promised, we will be holding another Virtual Networking Meeting for all PE staff before the end of this term. The Committee agreed that this will take place on Tuesday 30th March at 5pm via Zoom and hosted by Stephanie our SGO.
Those who attended the last meeting found it very useful, both in terms of sharing information and experiences, as well as it being incredibly supportive. The meeting will include advice and guidance on the Multi-Sport Team Competition, some exciting news about a Mini-Tennis opportunity for schools, as well as a sneak preview of where things will be happening in Term 6. So please try to join us on that day. It would also be useful if you could let me know in advance that you will be attending.
Attached is a letter from Wayne Smith at Olympia Boxing giving details of an offer to schools. Olympia Boxing are really well thought of across the County and have strong links with the Council and local youth services in Thanet.
In case you haven't heard, it was announced this week that the deadline for any 2019/20 underspend has been extended. Don't forget that Stephanie is always there to support you with this. Further details can be found here:-

Also attached is a flyer for schools to share with their pupils, encouraging them to get out for a few longer walks and thereby earning Bronze (5km), Silver (7.5km) and Gold (10km) certificates. Here is a link to their site with a few suggested routes:-
Best Wishes
