Thanet Passport Update - 5

Dear Colleagues

PE STAFF NETWORKING MEETING

We already have a good number of schools signed up for our first Networking Meeting for PE staff at the Baypoint Club on Friday 26th November, 1.30-4.30pm. This is an excellent opportunity to meet with other PE teachers and sports coaches in a supportive environment and hear about new initiatives and resources that will benefit both you and your school. This is one of the perks of Thanet Passport membership and there is no limit on numbers, so more than one member of staff per school can attend. Don't forget that the cost of cover for you to attend counts as eligible expenditure from your PE & Sports Premium budget. Tea, coffee and biscuits are also provided!

It is still not too late to tell me you will be joining us, simply by emailing garybcrees@gmail.com .

MISSING TROPHIES

One of the problems we are encountering with having had no competitive sport over the past year, is that a few of our returnable trophies have gone missing. I do have a record of which schools should have them, but sometimes trophies have been shared and it is not easy to keep track. Please can you check your trophy cabinets, cupboards and drawers and let me know if you come across any cups or shields that you think should have been returned. Also, don't forget that if any Passport competition trophies need engraving with your school name then all you have to do is take them into Ramsgate Trophies in King Street, where Mark will be happy oblige. He will then invoice Passport accordingly.

DANCE COMPETITION POSTPONEMENT

Sadly we have had to postpone the Dance Competition which was due to take place at Broadstairs College. Happily we will be looking at a new date somewhere around Term 4, which hopefully will allow schools more time to get an entry together. Teams can be made up of any number of dancers between 1 and 16, with any genre of music from ballroom to street! So if there is not already a Dance Club running in your school, now would be a good time to get someone to start one!

SGO UPDATE

Stephanie, our SGO, also sent out an Update last week. Here it is in case you missed it:-

Dear all,
Please see the latest update from Thanet School Games below. More information will be shared on all topics, plus Active 60 at the PE Meeting on 26th November 2021 at Baypoint. Please contact Gary Rees to register for this.

School Games Mark Criteria 2021/22

The NEW School Games Mark Criteria was launched this week. It has been adapted to fall in line with the new School Games Outcomes. I will be going through the criteria in greater depth at our coordinators meeting at Baypoint later this month. Please find the criteria under the resources section on www.yourschoolgames.com (if you type ‘Mark’ into the search box it will appear without looking too hard)

Barclays Girls Football in Schools Partnership

We are absolutely delighted to announce that Thanet have been awarded a Barclays Girls Football Partnership. The key driver to achieve the ambition is that by 2024:

• 75% of schools across the country having girls’ football on their curriculum

 • 90% of schools providing curricular and/or extra-curricular girls football provision

Being part of the partnership will enable your school to

access FREE CPD
FREE Resources
FREE Access to Disney Inspired Shooting Stars, equipment, session videos and resources
Links to the Euros next year and much much more.

The partnership is free to both primary and secondary schools, all you have to do is register your school at www.girlsfootballinschools.org   (YOUR SCHOOL MUST BE REGISTERED AND HAVE COMPLETED THE PLEDGE). – it will take approx. 2mins!!

Once you are registered, I will be notified and can involve you with all the latest information. Girl’s football is going to be big in Thanet and we want you to be part of this and make a difference for the young Girls in the district. I am very excited by this new partnership and hope that you will get on board too. Further details will be shared with you at the coordinators meeting.

Inclusive 5-a-side Football

Unfortunately we have had to postpone the Inclusive Football event, we are seeking a venue and plan to rearrange this for Term 3. You will be kept updated from Thanet Passport and Thanet School Games Updates.

The Daily Mile

If you would like any information regarding the Daily Mile, please sign your school up here. Should you require any support in setting up the Daily Mile in your school, a contact Katie Sawyer at Kent Sport is on hand to help you, discuss various options and tried and tested initiatives.

For those that are already signed up, I will be in contact with you next week to see how it is going for this academic year.
