Thanet Passport Update - 7

Dear Colleagues

Happy New Year!

I realise that the situation with Covid is somewhat fluid at present, to say the least, but as far as Passport is concerned we will be trying to carry on as normal. Obviously each school will make its own decisions as to how they wish to proceed and it could be that Government guidance will change (probably at very short notice!) or that schools may have to pull out of hosting some events. Hopefully this will not be the case, but all I would say is that if you do enter an event then please make contingency plans in case of pupil or staff sickness on the day.

Certainly, the rule about parent spectators not being allowed to attend any indoor events will continue for the foreseeable future.

CHANGE OF DATES

Y3-6 Dance - Please note that the Dance Competition, which was due to be held at Broadstairs College last term, has now been rescheduled for Wednesday 11th May at 4pm, same venue. Hopefully this will give schools plenty of time to get a routine together or maybe even start a Dance Club if one doesn't already exist. Don't forget that it does not have to be run by the PE Co-ordinator and that entries can be any size from 1 to 16 dancers.

Y5/6 Orienteering - This event was due to be held at 12.30pm on 10th May, which is during SATs week. Consequently we have moved it to 12.30pm on Friday 20th May, still at Betteshanger Park.

Please amend your calendars accordingly. Further details will follow nearer the time.

Y1/2 RAPID FIRE CRICKET FESTIVAL

This event is due to take place at The Ursuline on Tuesday 25th January, 1.15-2.45pm. This is an indoor festival and an ideal chance for children (and staff) to learn the game ahead of the outdoor tournament at St George's in June. A maximum of 6 schools can enter and places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. A copy of the rules plus an entry form is attached, which should be returned to me, garybcrees@gmail.com, no earlier than 7.30am on Thursday 6th January 2022. Entries close at midnight on Friday 14th January 2022.

Y1/2 ATHLETICS TASTER FESTIVAL

Attached is the entry form for the Year 1/2 Athletics taster event at The Ursuline on Thursday 3rd February 2022, 4-5.30pm. Teams of 10 (5 boys and 5 girls) will have the chance to experience a variety of indoor Sportshall Athletics activities and entry forms should be returned to our SGO, Stephanie Selsby (NOT ME!), sgo@ursuline.kent.sch.uk . There is a limit of 12 schools for this event and entries close at midnight on Wednesday 19th January 2022.

Y3/4 CHANGE4LIFE FESTIVAL

Also attached are all the details regarding the Change4Life Festival for Years 3/4, which will take place at Garlinge Primary School on Thursday 10th February 2022. This event is aimed at those who attend your Change4Life Club and/or those children who never normally get a chance to represent their school at sport. There is a limit of 8 schools for this event and entries, including contact details, should be sent to Lisa Sparkes (NOT ME!), sparkesl@garlinge.kent.sch.uk , no earlier than 7.30am on Thursday 6th January 2022. Entries close at midnight on Friday 21st January 2022.

GOOD LUCK!

We would like to wish Good Luck to the following schools, who will be representing Thanet at the Kent County Football Finals at Sporting Thamesmead this coming Friday 7th January:-

Primary Sevens - St Saviour's
Girls Sevens - St Gregory's
Small School Sevens - Haddon Dene

PASSPORT AFFILIATION FEES

Finally, a reminder that the Passport Affiliation fee invoices for this academic year, 2021/22, will be sent out by The Ursuline this month. Please alert your finance people. The fees remain at £600 for Junior, Private and through Primary Schools; £200 for Infants and Small Schools. This counts as eligible expenditure from your Sports Premium.

Best Wishes
