Thanet Passport Update - 8

Dear Colleagues

CROSS COUNTRY - Y3-6

I am delighted to announce that we have found an organisation to take over and organise the Cross Country. East Kent Coaching will be running the event, which will take place as advertised on the Passport calendar at Quex Park on Saturday 5th March 2022. The format will be very much the same as in previous years, with separate races for boys and girls in each year group from Y3 to Y6. Every finisher will receive a medal, with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for the top 3 in each race.

The cost per runner is £3.50. The administration arrangements will be the same as the last time this event was held, so there will be no need for pinned-on numbers or a spreadsheet. Attached is all the information you need, including a pro-forma letter for parents to which you can add your own deadline. PLEASE READ IT ALL CAREFULLY!

Entry forms should be sent to me, garybcrees@gmail.com, no later than Friday 25th February, with payment either by cheque or BACS to arrive by Monday 28th February 2022.

Please note that schools that fail to meet these deadlines will not be able to take part.

QUICKSTICKS HOCKEY - Y3/4 & Y5/6

Also attached are the entry forms and rules for both the Y3/4 and the Y5/6 Quicksticks Hockey tournaments at Chatham House on 24th and 28th February respectively. Please note that as this is no longer a KSG qualifier the rules regarding numbers on the pitch have changed slightly. Squads of 8 should be made up of 4 boys and 4 girls. Games are 6 a side with 3 boys and 3 girls on the pitch at any one time. The rule about changing players every 2 minutes has been scrapped, although every player in the squad must play for at least 2 minutes in every game whilst still maintaining the gender balance.

There is a limit of 12 teams for each event, which will be allocated on a first come-first served basis from 7.30am on Thursday 20th January. Entries close at midnight on Friday 4th February 2022 and should be sent to me, garybcrees@gmail.com.

KENT FOOTBALL FINALS

The 3 schools representing Thanet at the Kent Football Finals did us proud. In the Primary Competition, St Saviour's finished 3rd, losing 3 games by 1-0 and winning 2 games by the same margin. In the Small Schools Tournament Haddon Dene came an impressive 2nd, whilst St Gregory's played some great football in the Girls section, drawing 2 and losing 3 of their games. Congratulations and well done to all 3 schools for flying the Thanet flag so well..

GYMNASTICS FESTIVAL - Y2

Sadly, due to covid, the Gymnastics Festival at Callis Grange this week has had to be postponed. The good news is that it will be rearranged in early Spring, which should give more schools a chance to enter, as well as a second chance for those schools that unfortunately have had to withdraw. Once a new date has been finalised further details will follow in future Updates.

Best Wishes
