Thanet Passport Update - 12

Dear Colleagues

RUGBY FESTIVAL PLACES STILL AVAILABLE

It was great to see so many children enjoying themselves at the '6 Nations Rugby Tournament' on Saturday and we hope to see all of you again at the final Rugby Festival at Upton on Saturday 23rd April. For those of you who have not been before, this fantastically fun morning is one of the highlights of the year. Each school is given a rugby playing nation to represent and players often dress up or paint their faces whilst playing lots of friendly games of rugby, before parading across the field to be presented with their medals. There are also trophies for the best banner and the best mascot - usually a younger brother or sister!

Sadly our numbers are down this year, understandably so given that we are still slowly emerging from the covid pandemic. Happily there are still plenty of places available and it would be a shame if your older children were to miss out on this chance to represent their school at sport, particularly as they have missed out on so much already. Don't worry if your players are not completely up to speed with the game, as we will ensure that teams of similar ability play each other. Schools that have already entered may also put in extra teams. Please let me know if you wish to enter or put in extra teams by the end of this week - Friday 25th March 2022. Spectators are welcome at this outdoor event.

Y2 FOOTBALL FESTIVAL PLACES STILL AVAILABLE

Similarly, I still have a few places available for the Y2 Football Festival at Margate FC on Thursday 21st April. Please let me know if you wish to enter, or put in an extra team, by this coming Friday 25th March 2022. Spectators are welcome at this outdoor event.

DANCE COMPETITION

As previously notified, our Dance Competition back in Term 2 had to be postponed and has been rearranged for Wednesday 11th May 2022. The dance can be any style and can include pupils from Y3 to Y6, with a team made up of any number from 1 to 16 dancers. A flyer with further information is attached. There are 10 places available and schools that previously entered should re-submit their entries, although these schools will be given preference if the event is over-subscribed. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and applications will not be accepted until 7.30am on Thursday 24th March 2022. To enter please e-mail Jade Bailey (NOT ME!), Baileyj@garlinge.kent.sch.uk , no later than Friday 1st April 2002, stating how many dancers will be in your team. Please note that spectators are not allowed at this event.

PE STAFF NETWORKING MEETING

A reminder that the next PE Networking meeting for PE staff will take place at the new 'Clip 'n Climb' Centre at Westwood Retail Park on Friday 29th April 2022, 1-4pm, including the opportunity to have a go! There is no charge for Passport Schools and refreshments are provided. Don't forget that cover for your attendance counts as eligible expenditure from your PE and Sports Premium. Please let me know as soon as possible if you will be attending and thank you to all those that have already signed up.
