Thanet Passport Update - 15

Dear Colleagues

Y1-6 CROSS COUNTRY AT UPTON

I know that Dave Walker at Upton has recently sent out an email to schools about the Cross Country events at Upton, but in case you missed it here it is again, including the attached template letter for parents. Please note that the Waterloo Cup Cross Country Relay event on 18th June 2022 will not be taking place:-

Hello everyone!

I hope things are going well for you all and that you've had a well-deserved rest across the last week.

Unfortunately, due to a clash of dates this year we've not been able to host our usual cross-country relays event but the Upton cross-Country (25th June) is still scheduled to go ahead and I hope you'll all send pupils. It's been a couple of covid-hit years since we were last able to run the event but it's always exciting.

On the morning of Saturday 25th June Upton Junior School are running the Upton Cross-Country event for children as part of our ‘Sport in the Community’ programme. The event is in its seventh year and is very similar to the excellent Thanet Cross-Country at Quex, just not as big. All local schools are invited and races are all 1km long to ensure no-one is put off by the distance. All runners receive medals regardless of where they finish and the ethos is focused on getting involved.

There is an entry fee that covers the cost of medals and event organisation of £2 per pupil. Schools collect their own entry, ensure they let me know how many are coming by Fri 17th so I can order in your medals and then we invoice you for the amount (no refunds). It's that simple

At Upton we put the onus back on parents by making them responsible for their child at the event -it's up to you if you do the same -but we do need a member of staff from each school to attend as a central point of contact

On the morning of Saturday 25th June races start at the following times:

9.00am  - Fun infants race (300m)  (Pay £2 entry on the day only – medals for all)

9.20 – Year 3 Girls           9.40 – Year 3 Boys

10.00 - Year 4 Girls         10.20 – Year 4 Boys

10.40 – Year 5 Girls          11.00 – Year 5 boys

11.20 - Year 6 Girls         11.40 -Year 6 Boys

I attach a letter template you can use (filling in your own details, obviously)

Kind regards

Dave

THANET WANDERERS SEND

I am delighted to announce that Thanet Wanderers will become one of our Official Partners from September and as such will be hosting several of our events in 2023. Attached is a flyer which details how SEND children of all ages can access free training at the club every Tuesday from now until the end of term. Please pass the information on to the parents of any child in your school who you think would benefit.

AND FINALLY...

Thank you to those schools who have nominated players to attend the forthcoming District Football Trials for both our Main Squad and our Girls Squad. If you have not already done so, please return the nomination forms to me by the end of this week, bearing in mind that anyone you nominate must be both exceptional at football and well behaved in school!

Best Wishes
