Thanet Passport Update - 17

Dear Colleagues

Welcome to the final Passport Update of the school year.

DRAFT PASSPORT CALENDAR 2022/23

Attached is the draft Passport Calendar for the next academic year. We have tried to improve the calendar this year by including the dates of all our Networking Meetings for PE Staff in the hope that, with more notice, more of you will be able to attend. We have also tried to keep the first week of each term free of events in order to give you more time to get letters out and teams together. In addition we have added in some 'taster' or 'masterclass' events before some of our major tournaments, such as Basketball, Handball, Rugby and Cricket, in order for you and your players to become familiar with the format, rules, coaching drills etc.

However, please note that the Calendar is still a work in progress and although the vast majority of the dates and venues are correct, there are always a few last minute changes and additions. The idea of issuing the draft to you now is so that you can begin to plan your after school clubs accordingly, as well as ensuring that there are no clashes with major school events such as trips out, concerts or sports days. The final draft will be sent out with my first Update in September, with the usual A3 size laminated hard copies delivered to your schools a few weeks later.

PASSPORT RELAUNCH

Looking at the Calendar you may notice that the very first event of the year is a Passport Relaunch event, to be held at the Thanet Wanderers Clubhouse on Wednesday 14th September 2022, 6.30-8.30pm. The Passport Committee are very aware that there have been quite a few personnel changes in schools over the past few years and therefore we are inviting all PE staff, plus their Headteacher, to attend this event. Not only will we be sharing with you all of the advantages of belonging to Passport and how it all works, but there will also be some free gifts for every school that attends, including materials that will help ease the workload of diligent PE staff. Not only that, the Clubhouse Bar will also be open!

So please put the date in your diaries now and alert your Headteachers. Official invites will be sent out at the start of next term.

SUMMER HAF PROGRAMME AT MARGATE FC

Attached is a flyer giving details of the Summer HAF Programme at Margate Football Club. This exciting 4 week programme of activities in July and August is open to children of primary school age who receive free school meals and includes a varied menu of sports and arts and crafts activities, as well as a healthy meal each day. Please bring it to the attention of all your eligible children.

PASSPORT COMMITTEE CHANGES

Sadly the Passport Committee is saying goodbye to one of its members, namely James Hood from Holy Trinity & St John's. James is moving on to a new job and his enthusiasm and sportsmanship will be missed at our Passport events. We would like to thank him for all he has done and wish him well in his future endeavours.

Happily, we have found a worthy replacement and I would like to welcome Lesley Wright from St George's Primary to the Passport Committee.

On behalf of myself and the Passport Committee, have a well deserved Summer break, try not to melt, and we look forward to seeing you at many of our events next year, including the Passport Relaunch in September.

Best Wishes
